With a projected population increase of 99% in the next three decades according to a recent post of the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance’s LinkedIn page, York County is one of the fastest growing areas in the Charlotte Region and in the United States.
There are many reasons that account for York County’s rapid growth with four areas in particular experiencing the largest population increases: Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Lake Wylie.
In Rock Hill, you’ll find the Rock Hill Technology Center, Riverwalk development, Old Town, Winthrop University, and the future home of the Carolina Panthers’ headquarters and practice facilities.
Fort Mill is a bustling small town surrounded by affordable suburban communities and highly rated schools like Nation Ford and Fort Mill High Schools.
Tega Cay and Lake Wylie offer lakeside, resort style living with many amenities nearby.
York County’s proximity to Charlotte, North Carolina and Interstate 77 make it convenient to those working in the second largest banking city in the US.
Fans of professional sports, music and theater performances, or fine dining can find all of those just up I-77 in Charlotte
Charlotte Douglas International Airport is also with a half-hour’s commute and the beach and mountains are both within a three-hours drive in either direction.
Jobs & Affordability
York County is home to several major corporations and they use tax incentives to attract new employers to the area quite often.
The overall employment rate is generally higher in York County than the national average, and home prices are generally lower than the national average.
That makes York County a great place to live and work.
